The Annual Meeting and Holiday Party is an opportunity to celebrate the season, to network with fellow AIABaltimore members and Baltimore Architecture Foundation (BAF) supporters, and learn how you can become more involved in the chapter and BAF programs. Meet current and incoming AIABaltimore and BAF board members, and get to know AIABaltimore committees and staff.
Special guest Carl Elefante, FAIA, incoming AIA president, will address the membership about his vision for the AIA organization in 2018.
This year, the event will be held at lunchtime at the Columbus Center at Pier 5 at the Inner Harbor. Completed in 1995 and designed by Zeidler Roberts Partnership, the Columbus Center was built as a national center for marine biology research and education, bridging the scientific community and the public. Architect Eberhard H. Zeidler described its signature Teflon roof as an “amorphous sea form” resembling both a sailing ship and a sea creature. The building originally called for a “Hall of Exploration”—a marine biology themed exhibition hall with exhibits designed by head of Disney Imagineering Brian Ferren. Today, the Columbus Center is home to the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET), a joint University System of Maryland research institute.
The Columbus Center received a 1994 Design Award from AIABaltimore.
Free to attend for AIABaltimore members.
Those who are not members must select a donation ticket. When registering, you will be given the option to allocate your donation to support the Baltimore Architecture Foundation and/or the Maryland Architects PAC. A donation ticket counts as one person.
Members who would like to make a donation should select a donation ticket as their admission ticket. If you select a free ticket and a donation ticket we’ll assume you are bringing someone with you.
Please consider making a donation to the Baltimore Architecture Foundation (BAF) and/or the Maryland Architects PAC!
Your contribution to the BAF will support public outreach, education, research, publications, and scholarship programs to promote awareness of Baltimore’s architecture and built environment, and is tax-deductible (as allowed by law).
Founded in 1995, the Maryland Architects PAC works hand-in-hand with AIA Maryland to achieve its legislative goals. The PAC enables member architects to more fully participate in electing and re-electing legislators who understand and support our profession, our livelihood and our issues. We offer heartfelt thanks to the individuals and organizations that provide direct financial support to the PAC. Their dollars give “voice” in promoting the interests of all Maryland architects thereby improving the practice of architecture within the State of Maryland. Without this support, the PAC’s successful activities would not have been possible. http://www.aiamd.org/advocacy/contribute-to-md-architects-pac/
