Darlington Hall is located on the historic campus of Harford Community College between the Chesapeake Center and Edgewood Hall on Thomas Run Road in Bel Air, Maryland. The building unites HCC’s academic and continuing education health care programming under one roof and is a central hub for students pursuing nursing and allied health degrees and certifications at Harford Community College. The facility will also serve University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health through ongoing professional development coursework.
The building features state-of the-art laboratories, high-tech classrooms, modeling and simulation labs, and informal study and social spaces. The design is a reflection of a new, more collaborative, team-based model of teaching in the health care fields and incorporates 2,200 square feet of highly flexible space with multipurpose classrooms, several event areas, student lounges, café’s, and outdoor spaces – including a second –floor outdoor classroom and a terrace.
This great building will support and advance the Nursing and Allied Health programs at HCC. The collaborative learning environment that was created through careful programming and design is sure to set an example for future healthcare education design. Even more exciting, is that the building is informing and inspiring innovation in the education of nursing and allied health professionals here at Harford Community College. We all have a stake in the future of health care education. The quality of this education is directly related to the quality of medical treatment we will receive for serious injuries, illness, prevention, and our overall wellness.
Project presentations and tours will be led by Scott Walters, AIA, and Hilary Thomas, AIA of Hord Coplan Macht, and other members of the design and construction team.
Following the tour of the project, we will gather for an outstanding evening of networking! Fine food and beverages will compliment this terrific networking opportunity!
