Join AIA Baltimore and the Baltimore Architecture Foundation for the annual Schamu Golf Outing, Auto Classic and Lawn Party. Yes, a lawn party! This year we’re adding lawn games and lots of fun for everyone not playing golf. We’ll also have the classic car show and cocktail reception on the Elkridge Club porch where guests can enjoy Southsides and good food while admiring one-of-a-kind treasures dating from the Jazz Age to present day.

For Golfers:

Dust off your mashie, buff your niblick, and iron your plus-fours! Enjoy 18 holes of golf on the Elkridge Club course. For the first year, the AIA Baltimore and BAF golf outings are combining for one spectacular game of golf. The golf outing is the perfect chance to network with firm principals and industry leaders.

Registration opens at 11:00 am with lunch at 11:30 am. Bring cash for mulligans (just in case!). Golf attire required for all golfers: Collared shirts, no steel spikes.

After the game, stick around for the Auto Classic and Cocktail Reception on the Elkridge Club porch.

For Lawn Partiers:

New this year is the lawn party. The 1920s theme will take inspiration from the glitz of the jazz age to the emergence of Bauhaus. Break out the seersucker suit, or sashay in your favorite summer hat and vintage tea dress. Or celebrate the centennial of Bauhaus in all its glory, from form-follows-function simplicity and color block patterns (who remembers the YSL Mondrian dress?) to geometric and otherworldly costumes.

Enjoy the summer afternoon on the Elkridge Club porch with a variety of snacks, and refreshments from the beverage cart including beer and a specialty cocktail. The lawn party makes for a great summer outing or team building event, including some friendly competition. We’ll have a number of lawn games for you to play such as:

  • Croquet
  • Bocce
  • Bean bag toss (cornhole) – Donated by Mule-Hide Products
  • Giant Jenga
  • Giant Connect Four
  • Card and board games

We’ll also be presenting a ‘best dressed’ award to the person (or team) that best interprets the 1920s theme.

If you’re new to golf or want to brush up on your skills, the golf clinic with the Elkridge Club Golf Pro will begin at 4:00 pm. Then, stick around for the Car Show and Cocktail Reception.

Auto Classic and Cocktail Reception:

At 5:00 pm, the car show and cocktail reception begins on the Elkridge Club porch. The reception includes a full bar, including the club’s famous Southsides. Rare vehicles from the Jazz Age to the present day will be on display. Cars include rare Packards, convertibles and sports cars, and 21st century marvels like the Tesla. It’s the perfect way to spend a summer evening!

Auto Classic and Cocktail Reception included with Golf Ticket and Lawn Party Ticket.

Proceeds of the event will be donated to the Baltimore Architecture Foundation (BAF): a non-profit, educational organization that promotes public understanding and appreciation for Baltimore’s architecture and built environment, and AIA Baltimore’s outreach and education programs.
