A Day in the Life of an Architecture Student
April 14 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm
This one-day event will be held at Morgan’s School of Architecture and Planning. It will be based on an actual class schedule where the students will attend classes and interact with fellow students and faculty as regular college students. The Morgan student volunteers will serve as the faculty to the students and engage them in different tasks in the courses they will be teaching. The students will be taught how to express their ideas in plan and section, the history of Morgan and how black architects have contributed to Morgan’s campus. Group ethics and values will also be encouraged as the students will be working on the projects together, and there will be a final presentation at the end of the day, in which they will all participate in.
By the end of the day, the students should have a deeper understanding of the ins and outs of the typical life of an Architecture student. They will be exposed to different scenarios where their decision-making skills and creativity will be tested. By taking the students out of their classrooms, and exposing them to the studio culture and operations, we hope to spark their interest in careers in architecture and design.
