Amanda Almarshoud “Shaping Vibrations” Opening Reception
March 3, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us at the AIABaltimore Bookstore for the opening reception of “Shaping Vibrations,” an exhibition of architectural artwork by Amanda Almarshoud.
Amanda Almarshoud was born in Sharjah, UAE in 1994. She is currently receiving her BFA and concentrating in Architectural Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her Arab-American background and experience of living in both America and Kuwait is a constant source of cultural and historical inspiration for her fine art and architectural designs. She is working towards a combination of Fine Art and Architecture through various forms of drawing, painting, installation, and architectural design, all centered on the concepts of goofiness, absurdity, fun and love.
The mind and body, generate and radiate a constant flow of energetic architecture. Thoughts and emotions influence the brain to send various combinations of electromagnetic frequencies throughout and off the body, into space. These frequencies, can build up to create energetic walls, develop into larger architectural systems, and then flow into different formations. Energetic architecture is in a state of continual fluid construction around and through us at all times.
My drawings are visual depictions of the structural elements of my own energy or a collective mass of many energies influencing each other. Whether expressionistic or representational, I am describing the shapes and structures of energy in space through mark making. I continue to use my drawings to inform my sculptures, installations, and architectural designs in the pursuit of transferring various forms of positivity to the viewer.
