BEC-Baltimore: Educational Program & Tour at Intertek–ATI

BEC-Baltimore is excited to invite you to this special event at Intertek–ATI in York, Pennsylvania. Intertek–ATI is a leading provider of building enclosure commissioning, consulting, inspection, testing, and design services for the construction industry. They have developed a number of specifications, test methods, and certification programs that have been adopted for use.
We will be visiting Intertek–ATI for a half-day program which includes two presentations, lunch and a tour of the facility which is sure to fascinate anyone involved in the design or construction of buildings. This will be a highly informative event and we hope to see you there. Transportation will not be provided, but ride sharing is encouraged. Further details will be provided to attendees.
Preliminary Program Schedule:
- 9-9:45am: Registration
- 10am: Presentation by John Runkle, Vice President of Building Sciences at Intertek–ATI
- 11am: Tour of Intertek–ATI testing facilities
- 12pm: Lunch provided to attendees
- 1pm: High performance enclosures by Michael Hindle, Principal at Passive to Positive and President of the Board of Managers at Passive House Alliance US
- 2pm: Program concludes

John Runkle, PE
Mr. Runkle is Vice President of Building Sciences at Intertek–ATI. He has 15 years of experience as a consulting/commissioning engineer specializing in field air, water, thermal, and structural testing, investigative services and condition surveys, and design peer reviews and shop drawing reviews of residential, commercial, and industrial facade assemblies in over 35 states, including roofing, claddings, fenestrations, and below grade waterproofing. He has developed the practice area of building enclosure commissioning and has provided expert witness services on various projects.
Michael Hindle, CPHC, CPHB
Mr. Hindle is Principal of Passive to Positive, a consulting firm specializing in Passive House, Zero Energy, Net Positive design and construction methodology. Michael began his inquiry into sustainable design while teaching on an Architecture Design Studio faculty panel at Miami University of Ohio in 2003. Beginning in 2008 he worked as a designer and draftsman with a Baltimore residential architecture firm and researched ways to deepen the firm’s commitment to environmental practice.
In 2010, Michael became one of only 230 Certified Passive House Consultants in the nation. He is now also a Certified Passive House Builder. Michael is the current President of the Board of Managers, Passive House Alliance US and member of the board, Passive House Institute US.
