What is Biophillia and how does it relate to design? Biophillia is a term that is used now in designing environments. It suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature. How does this concept relate to design and why is it becoming such a hot topic?

Heather Flannery, an interior designer from Hord Coplan Macht explores these questions through several health care related projects. Join us as we discover more about Biophillia and how it is integrated into design projects.

Stella Tarnay is an urban planner and co-founder of Biophilic DC. She has over 25 years of experience in green building policy and practice, and in environmental education.

Growing a Biophilic DC
Two years ago DC embarked on a journey to become a Biophilic city. Now a member of the Biophilic Cities Network, DC’s architects, local planners, and residents are actively engaged to transform the urban environment through Biophilic design. Stella will share their evolving story.
