The EmPOWER Maryland Act passed by the General Assembly in 2008 was created in order to reduce energy consumption. EmPOWER Maryland established a goal to cut energy consumption by 15% through the end of 2015. The state’s utilities responded by creating energy efficiency programs in support of this ambitious goal. These utility-driven programs provide cost savings and rebates to those helping to push energy conserving designs.
This course will explore the energy efficiency programs supporting EmPOWER Maryland, like the ENERGY STAR New Homes program, and how these programs pertain to architects.
