Open Hours: The Architecture of Home

November 19, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

In partnership with the Baltimore Museum of Art’s Open Hours series, join us for a tour of architecturally significant buildings between the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) and the Homewood Museum.

Join Katherine LePage, AIA and Daniel Carter, AIA of Ziger/Snead Architects for a tour of the recently renovated American Wing, recipient of the 2016 Grand Design Award of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIABaltimore). Museum experts will lead tours of the Latrobe Spring House, and the Homewood Museum. The tour will also include BMA’s Latrobe Spring House and the News Letter Office.

The tour will touch on the architecture of home, notably that of early 19th Century Baltimore when the grand Federal style Homewood House was built and when, before refrigerators, the Latrobe Spring House was both a practical structure for keeping dairy and an opportunity for architectural flourish.

The tour will begin at the BMA Fox Court, through the historic entrance by the information desk.
