In partnership with Wright, Constable & Skeen, the AIABaltimore Practice Management Committee is pleased to announce the launch of “The Business Side of Architecture Speaker Series,” a monthly speaker series delivered via phone, that focuses on business issues in the profession.
This entertaining and informative presentation will explain what you need to know to buy or sell a practice on the open market. In less than 30 minutes, through explanation, example and humor, you will learn about valuing and financing a purchase/sale, what business, financial and intangible things to consider, letters of intent, how to avoid liability, and common traps and how to avoid them. This presentation is a must for every architect who owns or who may one day want to own a practice.
About the Presenter
Steve Kaufman is a partner at his law firm, Wright, Constable & Skeen. Mr. Kaufman advises professionals in a wide variety of matters, including practice sales and purchases, employment and partnership contracts, licensing issues, and litigation. Mr. Kaufman is an author and lectures frequently on business and employment related matters at for professional associations and private groups. He is a former adjunct professor of law at Stevenson University, in Baltimore, Maryland and a 1985 graduate of Cornell Law School

Starting Tuesday, October 17, and continuing the third Tuesday of each month, from 12:30 – 1:00 pm, WCS lawyers in a wide range of practice areas as well as experts in related areas will present on topics relating to the theme of the business side of architecture. Participants will get in-depth presentations, packed into 30 minutes and accessible from your phone. The focus is on the practical.
