BALTIMORE, MD (March 9, 2015) – As 2014 drew to a close, Baltimore-based Mimar Architects & Engineers, Inc. finalized its acquisition of Ponte-Mellor Architects Ltd (PMA) , headquarted in Bethesda, MD. The newly formed union, Mimar Ponte Mellor (MPM), promises to bring a more comprehensive array of services to a broader Washington and Baltimore metropolitan area.
Ponte-Mellor is an award-winning provider of architectural, interior design, and construction management services. Over its twenty-five year history, it has become known in the Metro DC region for its design in commercial, retail, custom home, multifamily and mix-use developments.
In addition to architectural and interior design and construction management, Mimar brings to the table over two decades of experience in engineering, master planning, facility assessment, and commissioning. Its private, public, and commercial projects include work in the transit, defense, healthcare, marine, aviation, diplomatic, retail, mixed-use, and education fields.
“Mimar and Ponte-Mellor are a good fit,” says Kal I. Bhatti, Principal at Mimar Architects & Engineers. “I seek out the most talented firms, like PMA. By taking on the responsibility of management and administration, I free them to tap into their phenomenal talent and creativity. Our combined knowledge and experience, plus our ability to bring critical resources to projects, will open up opportunities not previously available to us as separate firms. As a local small business, this will play an important role in ensuring our long-term growth within municipal, state, federal, and international markets.”
Mr. Bhatti now serves as CEO of Mimar Ponte-Mellor. Rui A. Ponte, Design Director at MPM, will continue to lead the Washington-area office specializing in non-public work. Greg Ninow, Vice President of Architecture, will continue to lead the firm in Department of Defense, healthcare, higher education, and all federal design work.
