Kinsley to Deliver New Facility for Baltimore Mounted Police

Timonium, MD (June 18, 2018) – Kinsley Construction, Inc has been engaged by the B&O Railroad Museum and First Mile Stable Charitable Foundation, LLC to design and build a new stable for the Baltimore City Mounted Police – the nation’s oldest continuously operating mounted police unit.
The project will include state-of-the-art stables and an educational facility constructed on the B&O Railroad Museum property in West Baltimore.  The new stables will better support the work of the police department’s mounted unit and facilitate educational opportunities for Baltimore City school children. The design includes areas for horses, officers and visitors, including:

  • 12 horse stalls
  • Grooming and bedding areas
  • Two wash bays
  • A tack room
  • An office, locker rooms, a kitchen and a laundry room for officers
  • A demonstration and exercise area adjacent to the gallery area where visitors can observe activities at the stable

Design is underway, and construction is expected to break ground this summer with completion in late fall, 2018.
