Morgan State University, Ziger/Snead and Gensler Collaborate on Park(ing) Day 2018

Baltimore, MD (October 1, 2018) – Morgan State University, in collaboration with Ziger/Snead Architects and Gensler showcased an installation in Pigtown (intersection of Washington Boulevard and Scott Street) to celebrate Global Park(ing) DAY 2018 and the 17th Annual Pigtown Festival respectively on the 21st and on the 22nd of September.
The installation provided residents and visitors of Pigtown with a personal, spatial experience with the intention to spark a renewed PERCEPTION of their neighborhood. Baltimore is undergoing a transformation: the areas around the Inner Harbor are becoming more attractive and dense with activities. The team aimed to “capture the moment” by designing an experience that encourages the local residents and visitors to (re)discover their everyday space. Within the main framework of “Positive, Experimental and Participatory Urban Transformation,” they demonstrated spatial opportunities for the community.
