ANNOUNCEMENT:

Assistant to the Dean, School of Architecture and Planning, Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland

The School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) at Morgan State University is seeking to fill an Assistant to the Dean position. This is a national search but is open to staff members of Morgan State University.  This person reports to the Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning. The School has five graduate programs (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City & Regional Planning, Construction Management, and Ph.D. in Architecture, Urbanism, and Built Environments), three undergraduate programs (Architecture & Environmental Design, Construction Management, and Interior Design), and a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Urban Communities. Familiarly with any or some of the above programs and fields is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Dean in all aspects of the School’s operations and special initiatives
  • Assist the Dean in collecting and analyzing data for various reports and grant proposals
  • Assist the Dean in coordinating fundraising opportunities for the School
  • Assist the Dean in engaging with business partners and alumni
  • Assist the Dean in creating  new and innovative processes and projects to achieve the School’s strategic goals
  • Develop graphics and visual communication products to promote the School
  • Schedule appointments and engagements
  • Make arrangements and coordinate all details for meetings and special events
  • Attend meetings and prepare notes and minutes

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, graduate degree preferred
  • Record of prior (4 years) experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities

Minimum Skills

  • Strong Use of Technology (Scanning, Digital Filing, Computer Use)
  • Skills in the use of software/platforms, such as, but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
    • Google Workspace: Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Slides)
    • Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (Preferred)
  • Ability to maintain confidential materials with discretion and tact
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills

Position: Full-Time, Regular

Hours per week: 40

Days and Time: Must have availability between Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
