Baltimore, MD, October 2014 – Burdette, Koehler, Murphy & Associates, Inc. (BKM) is proud to announce that two of our projects have been awarded AIABaltimore “Excellence in Design” Awards.
In the Healthcare sector, Chase Brexton Healthcare received an Honorable Mention award. As part of the Marks, Thomas and NBBJ team, BKM strategically designed renovations to the iconic Monumental Life Building to maintain its historical essence and serve the community’s healthcare needs. This is the second award that the $21 million dollar project has been awarded.
Additionally, in the K-12 Education sector, Maryvale Preparatory School’s Erinn McCarthy Hall received an Honorable Mention award for its modern, yet student-friendly aesthetic. This 28,300-square-foot humanities building encompassed a 500-seat auditorium, stage, gallery space, music rooms, technology resource room, and six classrooms. Design Collective was the architect of this state-of-the-art facility, which ultimately honored former student, Erinn McCarthy.
