Jordan [ebo]\, Morgan State University of Architecture & Planning\nWhen: Tuesday 17 August 2021\nTime: 18:00 GMT+2 Italy (12:00 noon EDT New York)\nConnect to:\nhttps://youtube.com/c/EuropeanCulturalCentreItaly \nWhile protesting segregation of schools in the twentieth century in the US of A\, the Historically Black Colleges and Universities [HBCUs] carried out the agenda of educating Black minds with open doors to all. We the 7\, are the seven HBCU schools with architecture programs. Student projects from all seven US universities and Luciada University in Angola are on exhibit in Venice\, Italy at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2021: How will We Live Together?. On Tuesday\, August 17th\, 10 professionals and academics will speak on a panel to the\nadvancement of those in architecture of African\, African desendants\, and all minorities. How can a stronger tie to the African continent assist architectural praxis and theory in moving forward? ArchiAfrika has been engaged for years in creating a bridge between African Architecture discourse for decades. The current HBCU exhibition is a continuation of this exploration and connection to reinvigorate a Pan African context. Prof. coleman a. jordan [ebo] and Joe Osae-Addo have over the past 2 years collaborated on a lecture series to begin this conversation. This exhibition is an attempt to contextualise HBCU origins for a mandate within the Civil Rights movement in the USA and beyond. \nJoin our conversation to push the agenda of equity and empowerment in architecture.\nA Conversation with the African Diaspora\, is an opportunity to expand our voice on the global stage of architecture and celebrate our Pan African connection.
