(Baltimore, MD) — Floura Teeter Landscape Architects, Inc. (FTLA) announces four additional staff members have passed the LEED Green Associate exam, bringing the total number of LEED accredited professionals employed by the firm to thirteen, and giving FTLA the uncommon distinction of achieving 100% LEED Accreditation among its technical team. FTLA’s newest LEED Green Associates are Art Perez, Adriana Mendoza, Eric Lyons and David Woo Kim.
The U.S. Green Building Council‘s (USBGC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification process is intended to promote green building design, construction, operation and maintenance. Landscape design and maintenance are factored into the scoring system used for LEED certification. Practices rewarded include green roofs, rainwater management, the use of native plants, acquiring plants from local growers, selecting durable materials and supporting social interaction through landscape.
FTLA President Joan Floura says, “We are proud to say our entire technical team is now comprised of LEED accredited professionals who can incorporate the latest sustainable design techniques into every project. We will continue to encourage our staff to become accredited as part of our mission to create healthier environments for people to live and work in.”
