Oak Contracting, LLC Awarded $26 Million Wilde Lake Middle School Net Zero Replacement Project

TOWSON, MARYLAND (January 15, 2015) — Howard County Public Schools has selected Oak Contracting to serve as construction manager for the $26-million New Wilde Lake Middle School replacement project. The new 106,221 SF prototype school will be built on the same site as the original school and will house 752 students, grades 6-8.

Design by Annapolis-based TCA Architects, the New Wilde Lake Middle School will be the first Net Zero school  in the State of Maryland. The school will produce energy by way of ground and roof mounted solar panel arrays. The school is also being designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.

The design and planning of the new school is complete. The project will bid in March of 2015 with construction beginning in June 2015. Project completion will occur in August 2017.
