Baltimore, MD (April, 15 2016) — The artist and architect Ruth Connell has been selected as a participant for “All That Art”, an annual fund-raising event for The Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis. Ruth Connell’s oil painting, Bicycle Ride Maryland, will be exhibited in the Annapolis galleries of Maryland Hall from April 18 to 29, and in the on-line catalog, which can be accessed here:

ARTIST’S STATEMENT: “I like how the modest and sometimes faded homes in my Annapolis neighborhood rest so quietly in the landscape. My intention with Bicycle Ride Maryland was to capture the peaceful mood of early fall contrasted with the movement and colorful splash of the riders – and because I love to ride bikes, I was drawn to the subject. Although I am primarily a perceptual artist, interested in translating the images directly before me into paint on a surface, I love allegory and metaphor in the visual image and always feel free to manipulate the composition of what may lay before my eyes.”
All That Art” benefits Maryland Hall’s visual arts program, which mounts exhibitions throughout the year, providing exposure to artists. The event also supports Maryland Halls outreach activities that ensure students of all backgrounds have access to the arts.
Participating artists are competitively selected by the curatorial staff of Maryland Hall.
Ruth Connell is an architect and an artist, and teaches architecture at Morgan State University in Baltimore. Design services are available through Ruth Connell Studio Architects, Annapolis, Maryland.
