Wohlsen Construction Receives Three DCA Awards of Excellence

NEW CASTLE, DE (October 29, 2015) – Wohlsen Construction Company received three Awards of Excellence from the Delaware Contractors Association at the association’s 46th Annual meeting.

An Excellence award was presented to Wohlsen in the General Contractor Under $5 million category for the renovations and additions conducted on Christiana Care Health System’s AM Surgical Intake Center. This is the 11th award Wohlsen has won for their involvement in this long-time client’s projects. Stantec, Inc. designed the renovations to the occupied hospital, which included new procedure, holding, and exam rooms, and a courtyard with a rooftop patio.

Also receiving an Award of Excellence in the General Contractor Under $5 million category was the office fitout for MetLife Inc., tenant of AIG’s Wilmington office building, Courthouse Square. Woods Baggot designed the modern office interior for the three-story, 45,000 square foot project in an occupied ten-story office building originally built by Wohlsen in 1984.

Additionally, Wohlsen received an Excellence Award in the General Contractor Over $5 million category for the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Middletown. The joint-venture construction of a new, 48,000 square foot full-service patient rehabilitation hospital was designed by Frederick & Associates – Architects, Inc.
